From the WTF Watch Desk: The National Fire Academy will accept applications November 2–30 for its Managing Officer Program, closing earlier if 500 applications are received. The multiyear program combines prerequisites, two resident courses and a professional-development project for current or acting fire and EMS supervisors.

Why this deserves the fire service’s attention

Leadership development works best before promotion pressure makes every lesson reactive. Departments with eligible emerging officers should start recommendation letters, résumés, organization charts and prerequisite checks before the application window opens.
